At the beginning of this project, I started by making a mood board with some inspirations that reflected the brand's personality and my universe. A frequent theme in my reference images were patterns, constituted either by the lines, wefts or spots and it was from there that I started to develop this idea further.
I started by obtaining some photographic records of elements that formed grids, which included all kinds of environments. I was inspired by this confusion of lines and shapes that somehow managed to be harmonious with each other and I focused on a simple newspaper page.
From there I developed several sketches and experiments exploring the variations that those structures could form. Finally, I arrived at the final result of the models that are my entry to this contest. A set of more organic and dynamic lines and stains where chaos is manifested, which balance with the rigidity of pure lines. Obviously without trying to lose the idea of a grid formed by the structure of a newspaper page, but at the same time I let this idea be deconstructed and susceptible to new interpretations.
I feel that this set of drawings that seem to have almost no orientation, make a perfect bridge between the brand’s identity and what we, fine art students, normally try to express in our art.
